About Our Founder
Hi!
My name's Joanna Suvarna and I'm the Founder of 'Kintsugi Creative Holistic Wellbeing'. I've worked in Learning and Development, Training and Teaching for over 20 years, both in the U.K and in South Korea, supporting thousands of individuals in their professional and personal development in different ways. Experienced in tailoring support to suit the needs of the individual. I'm passionate about the importance of holistic educational experiences: not just focusing on outcomes in terms of qualification achievements, but also on wider areas such as building community, offering constructive developmental feedback, signposting to further resources and supporting every individual's growth on their unique learning journey. |

I have experience of teaching, supporting students, delivering presentations to large groups, small groups and individuals, ranging from the ages of 5 right up to 75, and of developing schemes of work and session plans that are engaging and outcomes focused. Along with having supported learners in their professional development, I've also taught through the mediums of Drama, Music, Broadcasting, Song and Language. This gives me a vast array of experience on which to base my guidance for you and other future creative practitioners.
My Why
I personally studied the HICAT course following a period of extreme stress, both professional and personal - this period of stress ultimately resulted in me being diagnosed as having PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). I wasn't in a great place mentally or physically and felt very unwell.
Along with seeking input from professionals, I decided to look for things that I could do to help myself heal. This is when I came across an advert for the HICAT course.
Signing up for the course felt like a big step at the time, particularly as I was feeling so unwell, but I hoped that it might potentially help me to help myself feel better. I really wasn't sure whether it would make any difference at all to my own wellbeing but, as I'm a qualified teacher and trainer, I felt that at the very least it would add to my teaching toolkit so that I could help other people in future.
The impact that the HICAT course had on me personally was nothing short of dramatic, it helped me so much . I was able to once again be in control of my emotions, calm my brain and body and build a toolkit that has since served me well on a daily basis to maintain my own wellbeing and also help others.
I love that this course is evidence-based, connecting clinical research with ancient traditional wisdom. Many of the resources, holistic approaches, tools and techniques were new to me and have changed my life for the better.
I enjoyed the theoretical aspects of the course as well as the practical activities, so much incredible content and so much potential for sharing in different settings. As a learner, I like to understand things fully and I found that this course enabled me to understand what was going on in my body and brain, helping me to take control of my life again.
I decided to become a provider of this course as it made such a difference to me and has the potential to change other peoples' lives too - rippling out from individual practitioners to families, communities and wider society. It has the potential to change the world, or at least the worlds of those it touches.
For my final project I created masks and a video, I think this demonstrates how much value I got from the course (and also how strong artistic ability is absolutely not required!) I wanted to share the video with you:
